Broadridge Financial Solutions introduced an issue they faced: lack of proxy vote participation. My team and I had a few months to find a solution. We proposed the revitalization and redesign of Broadridge's app to implement proxy voting customization.  We had the opportunity to present our proposed solution to Broadridge's senior executives. Abstract: Leading providers of investor communications follow strict regulations mandated by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. One common problem challenging the industry is low proxy engagement from retail investors. Mutual funds, in particular, have historically experienced poor engagement from investors and often fail to meet quorum from initial proxy campaigns. As younger generations begin investing in the stock market, the industry needs to adapt to changing market demographics. There is an imminent need to engage future investors and proxy voters. Namely, Millennials and Gen-Z are two technologically savvy generations entering the market. These younger investors react differently than the previous generations to paper mail. As the industry looks to capture younger investors by moving from print to digital, it must still retain engagement from its existing retail investors. Our proposed solution combines two existing digital products from a Fortune 500 Company to provide a more engaging and streamlined process to proxy voting, all at no cost to the retail investor.
